A base gravy is used by Indian Restaurants in most of their curry dishes. This is probably the single most important ingredient that sets apart the dishes produced by commercial Indian restaurants and takeaways with those produced by the home cooks. Unfortunately, base gravy takes a lot of ingredients and preparation/cooking time to produce. DA MALAT's Curry Base Gravy blend aims to replicate the base gravy produced by a restaurant, in minutes rather than hours and without you having to fill your kitchen cupboards with herbs and spices (which as we all know, go out of date before being used up).
Curry Base Gravy is a "must have" ingredient to produce British Indian Restaurant (B.I.R.) quality curries. If your aim is to replicate curries sold by your favourite Indian restaurant and takeaway, they you will need to use what they use and all commercial Indian restaurants use a base gravy in most of their curries.
To make base gravy, bring 300ml water to a simmer in a pan. add 1 x tsp DA MALAT Curry Base Gravy powder and mix well. put 1 x tsp cornflour in a little cold water and add to the base gravy. Simmer for a few minutes and the base gravy is ready to add to your chosen curry dish.
